One of my favorite things about being an author is hearing and reading about reader's experiences and where they have journeyed while reading my books. I hope this section brings you inspiration to have your own unique experience. Most importantly, I would love to hear from you! You can reach me directly through my email.
Reader Experiences of Where We Meet
As a speech-language pathologist, I help children find their voice. I witness
every day how voice unfolds in the presence of safety, curiosity, and
love. Where We Meet captures this truth with quiet beauty and deep insight,
reminding me that voice is so much more than words. This is an
extraordinarily meaningful and healing book.

This poem is an epic tale!
What a joy to feel the fog lift and see all the beauty and wonder around us! And to realize that you are never alone… supported by a special circle of friends that share your wonder and support you as you, as you lift yourself thru the fog of perceived pain and fear to see the beauty inside!
Pat Rinaldi
In her poem Where We Meet, Elizabeth Jo weaves an allegorical tale of
healing where characters like Noise and Sound depict a person’s journey
from fear and brokenness to a place of love and wholeness; where a nest of
eggs represents both the potential and fragility of a person’s gifts and
dreams; and where a meeting around a fire hearkens back to ancient human
practices that once provided connection and meaning.

I was engaged and fully living in this story. It’s the feeling when you’re
reading a story and it becomes a part of you and you are blended with the
writing style, characters, and world. Bravo!

EJ shares her acquired life skills through a metaphorical path that richly
details the concepts we can all use to guide ourselves through our own lives.
Every time I review the passages of this literary voyage I learn something
new to help guide me through life’s experiences.

This story offers a refreshing invitation to truly become ourselves. We
journey with the characters into the possibility of choosing the whole of
ourselves in our own lives, as the main character ultimately does. The story
is simple, so innocent and child-like that we are never lost from our own
participation in it. The meaning and themes always keep us gently held to
notice our own unfolding, our own deeper breath in the course of the story.
The final few pages offer a more succinct summing up of the character’s
journey, and a clear picture for our own.
Michael Nunnally
Elizabeth Jo paints pictures with her words and the images stay with you:
greetings from Love and Curiosity, whimsical teasing from Innocence,
whenever you need them. To read Where We Meet is to step through the
wardrobe and meet a new, gentler self on the other side. This journey is
needed now, more than ever.
Hannah Ollen
Elizabeth Jo’s words wind through the far reaches of the truth of internal
story and existence that lives in the background of life’s happenings.
She takes us on a journey of the possibility of wholeness found in the vivid
exploration of ourselves and the world that we live in throughout our brilliant
and precarious moments.
Walking through the light and shadow of self-awareness, encountering the
many facets and aspects of internal community, we find true home with that
which holds, accurately sees, and honors our original self - relieved of the
interruption that fear installs.
This writing offers opportunity to truly release yourself into your full original
freedom to begin again as who you came to this world to be.

Reader Experiences of How Do I Get To Be Me

How Do I Get To Be Me? is the second book of the Choosing New Ways Forward series by Elizabeth Jo. Building on the ideas discussed in the first installment, Shifting Our Relationship With Trauma, this book offers a conversation on moving beyond trauma. As we are always in a relationship with everything we interact with, these evolving relationships merge in unforeseen ways outside the boundaries of our conscious observations, resulting in unexpected outcomes. Jo encourages readers to have conversations with themselves and try to untangle their experiences into their simplest forms. Try to resonate with your innermost feelings and needs. Base your decisions on what you know to be genuine and important to yourself while respecting the wishes of your loved ones. Every one of us has a unique voice, so make it heard.
Change your relationship with trauma by moving forward and finding new experiences in your relationship with yourself. In How Do I Get To Be Me?, Elizabeth Jo poses an important question, "Why are people so unhappy about being human?" Through her book, the author provides some deep and meaningful insights into the human condition to help readers find themselves in sync with their inner selves, move on from traumatic experiences, and make decisions that lead them to the path of living fulfilling lives. Using personal anecdotes and stories, Jo showcases the context behind some of her concepts and ideas that lend greater credence to the narrative. I found this to be an informative and illuminating book. Highly recommended.
